My Dream Travel After Lockdown

My Dream Travel After Lockdown

Does your life feel chaotic? I know, I feel you.

There’s a lot of fear and uncertainty right now and it involves our career, business, and finances. No one knows exactly what to do. I don’t have the answers, but let’s take a deep breath and stay positive.

Since 2011, I’ve been working from home and that allowed me to work and travel at the same time. And with this pandemic, I’m even more grateful that I chose this career.

My passion is to travel and my dream is to become a digital nomad. But when Covid-19 hits the world, this industry has been one of the first that needs to be temporarily shutdown.

Is it safe to travel?

As we all know, the travel and tourism industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. We can’t know when and if things will return to normal. For now, everything remains uncertain.

I know this is tough and uncharted territory for us all. People are sick and scared. I’m even scared to go out. We all have been impacted by this. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this pandemic.

It’s not safe to travel now but that doesn’t mean it will be like this forever. And although experts are uncertain when will it be possible, not all future travel is off the table. So stay positive and start thinking of those trips that you want to do after the lockdown.

My Dream Travel Destination After Pandemic

March 16, 2020, was the day my quarantine life begins. (And I think for most areas in the Philippines as well.) And then, two months passed by really fast…

How did you spend your two months lockdown? Are you able to stay productive? Or are you taking advantage of this time to relax and spend time with your family?

You know with all the news, drama, and negativities that you can see on TV or social media, sometimes all you need is to pause and reflect. Life is too short to spend on hate and negativities.

In the meantime, we can daydream and start planning that amazing first post-pandemic vacation. (Hmm… can’t wait to travel again.)

Where to travel?

After the lockdown, I want to take the #Project81 challenge. It sounds scary and most of the time I’m doubting myself. Will I afford it? Is it possible?

FACTSThe Philippines is made up of 81 provinces, which consists of about 7,641 islands and categorized in three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

My dream travel is to wander around the Philippines and my quest is to visit all the 81 provinces. Top on my list is Baguio, in the province of Benguet, my first post-pandemic destination.

So if you’ve been there, please do let me know in the comment. I’d love to hear your tips and advice. It will get me more excited and think positively for the future.

How to travel cheap?

Can I afford it? That’s the very first question I asked myself.

And so, I started planning my next vacation.

Planning my dream travel has been a way for me to give myself something to look forward to. The most uplifting distraction from the current issues and problems the world is facing.

Budget (for me) is the major component in planning trips. So, I always make sure I have a budget on three main things: Transportation, Accommodation, and Food Allowance.

Transportation

Watch out for seat sales! Do your research on the possible cost of transportation so you get an idea of how much you need to save for it.

Accommodation

Should I book for hotels or opt for Airbnb? Most of the time, I book hotels even when I travel cheap. Sounds luxury? Nope, there are affordable hotels perfect for us budget travelers.

I already started searching for hotels in Baguio and I found some that fit my budget with the best location. If you dream to travel on a budget anywhere in the Philippines, you can check out some cheap and affordable hotels.

Food Allowance

Daily food budget helps me track my expenses while traveling (even on a day-to-day basis). I set the amount that I’m willing to spend and list down everything.

Overall

Traveling after lockdown will not be the same as before. With the entire travel and tourism industry essentially on pause, no one knows exactly about when things will bounce back to normal.

Even when travel technically becomes allowed, some of us may want to keep staying home, right? So instead of planning trips this year, think long-term, perhaps even into 2021 or 2022?

Don’t let these uncertain times hinder you in doing your passion and going to your dream destination.
