I can hardly believe itβs been seven years since my last visit to Siargao, the surfing capital of the Philippines! This time around, I was all smiles exploring this stunning island with my little family.
So much has changed over the years! New restaurants and resorts are popping up everywhere, making it more lively and offering exciting places to discover.
Our trip wasnβt just about relaxation; we were eager to explore everything, especially since it was their first time visiting. It was definitely worth the long drive!
I’ve previously written a Siargao travel guide, and itβs time for an update!
How To Get To Siargao By Car
For many travelers coming from Mindanao, driving is probably the easiest option. Keep in mind that it might take a bit longer because youβll first drive to Surigao del Sur and then hop on a Roro or Fastcraft to reach Siargao. You can either bring your car along or leave it at the port.
I hope this post helps anyone looking for boat schedules!
Bringing Your Vehicle to Siargao
I highly recommend checking the Roro/Ferry schedules ahead of time. When we arrived in Surigao del Sur around 4 a.m., we discovered the first Roro trip to Dapa was just leaving!
If youβre planning to bring your car, double-check those schedules because they only run at specific times. The ride from Surigao to Dapa takes about 3.5 to 4 hours, and we spent around Php 5k+ for both the vehicle and the tickets for everyone.
The Easier Way to Travel By Land
If you prefer not to bring your car, you can leave it at the port in Surigao and take a Fastcraft to Siargao. This option is perfect for short stays. I found parking available for around Php 350 per night, in a gated area with a security guard, so your vehicle will be safe! On my first trip, I left my car there for just Php 150 a nightβtime flies!
After parking, just book a Fastcraft ticket to Dapa. There are more scheduling options, and the ride takes about 1.5 hours. Ticket prices were roughly Php 350 to 400 (prices may vary!).
The Places We Visited in the Island
We stayed for three nights, and with limited time to explore Siargao, we made the most of every moment. Here are some highlights:
Secret Beach
This place truly lives up to its name! Itβs just a short walk from parking to the beach and is FREE! While there arenβt any cottages or proper restrooms, you can soak in the beautiful scenery, enjoy a swim, or rent a kayak.
Chair Rental: Php 50
Parking Fee: Php 50 (car), Php 20 (motorcycle)
Entrance Fee: FREE
(Note: Prices might vary.)
Coconut Tree Viewpoint
On our way to Magpupungko, we stopped at the famous Coconut Tree viewpoint. Here, you can take pictures along the roadside, overlooking a sea of coconut trees. You might have heard of the trendy “human drone” videosβthis is the spot! You can inquire at the nearby store if you want to experience it.

Magpupungko Beach and Tidal Pools
What a transformation since my last visit! I was amazed by how much Magpupungko Beach and Tidal Pools had changed since my first visit. Now, there are parking spaces for rent, more shops, and even restaurants nearby.
The best time to enjoy the tidal pools is during low tide (typically around 3 PM), which makes the afternoon perfect for swimming and walking around them.
Arrive early to enjoy the white sand beach and crystal-clear water.
I recommend wearing water shoes, as the rocky areas can be tricky, especially around the pools.
Entrance Fee: Php 50
Parking Fee: Php 50 (car), Php 20 (motorcycle)
Cloud 9 Boardwalk
What a change! I remember when this place felt super laid-back, but itβs now bustling with more restaurants and shops. I appreciate the growth but miss the old vibe a bit! Plus, thereβs now an entrance fee to get in.
Entrance Fee: Php 100
(Note: Prices can change.)
If youβre interested in surfing, this is the place to be.
Thereβs still so much of Siargao I havenβt explored yet. I canβt wait to visit again, hopefully for a longer stay, to soak in all the beauty and fun Siargao has to offer!
