Bohol is one of the pride of every Filipino. This bountiful province is full of wonders and captivating sites. I’ve shared my first experience exploring Bohol, the tenth largest island of the Philippines, on the blog. Last month, I decided to go back and not a lot has changed but I’m excited to share this journey with you.
Language – Locals speak Boholano, Bisaya, Tagalog, and English.
2-Day Bohol Itinerary
How to Get There?
- There are direct flights going to Bohol. You can either choose Tagbilaran airport or the newly opened Panglao Airport.
- If you’re from Cebu, you can ride a fast craft going there. ThereareafewoptionsbutwedecidedtogowithOceanjet.
- Cebu to Bohol: Php 450 (open air), Php 500 (air-condition), and Php 1,000 Business class. [This price is for Oceanjet only]
We stayed at Belian Hotel which is a walking distance from the port. And then, we rented a motorcycle to roam around the island for Php 600 for 24hrs. You can actually get it for Php 500 but my cousin found it for us so we just go with it. She’s amazing in helping us find one!
Day 1 – Explore Panglao Island
Since we already spent half of our day traveling from Davao to Bohol, we only have half of the day to explore the place. So we decided to spend it in the most famous island of Bohol — Panglao!
Bohol Bee Farm
Bohol Bee Farm offers accommodation, bee farm tour, fresh and organic dining with the view of the ocean, and they also cater to events like weddings. There’s no entrance fee and it’s up to you if you need someone to tour you around the bee farm but you have to pay for the tour. For us, we decided to just explore the place to ourselves. What to do?
- Try their famous ice cream. The cone is amazing!
- Shop some souvenirs. They have some products that you might want to taste and try.
- Dine in their Buzz cafe while enjoying the ocean view and relaxing breeze.
- Explore the place by yourself or pay for a tour guide.

Dumaluan Beach
Bohol is known for its fine white sand beaches and you can find a few of them at the famous Panglao island. Perfectly located in Panglao and popular for its wide stretch of white sand and shallow pristine water is the Dumaluan Beach. Previously we stayed at Dumaluan Beach Resort on my first visit because we want to really enjoy the beach of Panglao. They have the best Sunrise and a good sunset view.
However, if you’re on a budget, you can go on the public resort just on the side of the Dumaluan Beach Resort for only Php 25 per person. You can either rent a cottage or just sit by the beach. The powdery sand and clear water are something you don’t want to miss.
Alona White Beach
The most popular and crowded place in Panglao is Alona Beach. There are many restaurants and big hotels but there’s not much parking space. A perfect spot for finding a good place to eat and party. They also have a good sunset view and a beautiful white beach.
Other Places to Visit:
- Hinagdanan Cave
- Our Lady of the Assumption Church at Dauis
- Sea Shell Museum
- Panglao Church and Watch Tower
- Dolphin and Whale Watching
- Balicasag Island Snorkeling
- Virgin Island
Day 2 – Bohol Countryside Tour
Bohol is indeed an interesting place to visit as it is rich in historical sites and beautiful beaches. Visitors can spend a day touring the city as they wouldn’t run out of things to do and see.
Here are the places we visited in our 1-day tour of the countryside of Bohol:
Blood Compact Shrine
The Blood Compact Shrine in Bohol was made in honor of a very important event in Philippine history. This event is commonly known as “Sandugo”, considered as the First Treaty of Friendship between Miguel Lopez de Legazpi of Spain and Rajah Sikatuna of Bohol. Aside from this monument by Napoleon Abueva, you should also be able to enjoy the ocean view in the background but for now, they’re covering it for renovation.
Baclayon Church and Museum
Baclayon Chuch, also called La Purisima Concepcion de la Virgen Maria Parish Church, is considered the second oldest stone church in the Philippines and a National Cultural Treasure. Established in the late 16th century, the church became a parish in 1717. Baclayon church was constructed out of coral stones but the facade was destroyed by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake back on October 15, 2013. You’re free to enter the church but you have to pay Php 50 if you wanted to go inside the museum.
Bohol Python and Wildlife Park
First of all, I’m scared of snakes as I got bitten when I was young but I don’t hate them. I decided to include it in our tour as I haven’t visited it yet. The Bohol Python and Wildlife Park is located at Tagbilaran East Road, Alburquerque 6302, Philippines.
They preserved the biggest snake captured. Aside from snakes they also have some monkeys, birds and other wild animals. The staff will encourage you to touch the snakes for FREE but you’re welcome to give a donation.
Tarsier Sanctuary
Bohol is famous for its tarsier. Tarsiers were known as the world’s smallest primates that only weigh for about 113-142 grams. It’s amazing to see them move their head as they have the ability to turn their head for about 180 degrees. So happy to see them again! Just a few reminders, make sure no flash on the camera, don’t get too close, and no loud noise.
Location: Barangay Canapnapan, Corella
Loboc River Cruise Floating Restaurants
We experienced cruising along the jade-green Loboc river while we feast on a buffet of local dishes. The cruise and buffet costs P550.00 per person and this includes a short cultural show by the local community and a local band will serenade you as well.
Sipatan Hanging Bridge
The bamboo hanging bridge crossing the Sipatan River in Bohol is a fun tourist attraction. This footbridge spans 40 meters long and 20 meters high connecting the barangays of Poblacion and Calinga-an of Sevilla in the province of Bohol and offers a great view of the emerald Sipatan River.
It can be a little daunting at first but you will enjoy it once you experience some side to side sway and up and down bounce.
You have to pay Php 35 to cross the bridge and enjoy the Sipatan River while crossing. This amount supports the maintenance and improvement of the bridge.
Bilar Man-Made Forest
Bilar’s two-kilometer stretch of densely planted Mahogany trees is just something to look forward to. The Mahogany Man-made forest that spans from Loboc to Bilar is part of Rajah Sikatuna Protected Landscape. We were captivated by its kaleidoscope of green foliage and different species of giant ferns. So if you pass by, make sure to stop and take pictures but be careful of the passing vehicles!
Location: Bilar
Habitat Butterflies Conservation Center
Five minutes from the Bilar Man-Made Forest, is the Habitat Butterflies Conservation Center. It’s a simple butterfly sanctuary which aims to protect the butterfly population through breeding. You can see the butterfly garden, a restaurant, and a souvenir shop. After paying the entrance fee, a tour guide will usher you through the entire experience.
ATV near Chocolate Hills
There are a few ATV rentals near the Chocolate Hills in Carmen. For us, we went to Sotera’s ATV Rides which is located just before you go up to the Chocolate Hills viewpoint. They offered it to us Php 900 per person for 1hr. I know it’s very expensive but haggle it and got it for Php 850. Never be scared to haggle for the price. We ride at the oot of the Chocolate Hills and it was fun, muddy, rocky, and exciting. You will have a personal guide to help you with the trail.
Chocolate Hills
Your Bohol tour will never be complete if you won’t be able to see Bohol’s signature attraction, the Chocolate Hills. Though there are more than a thousand haycock hills spread over several municipalities, visitors can see and experience the Chocolate Hills in Carmen, Bohol. These hills range from 40-120 meters in height.
The perfect time to go there is when it’s almost sunset. Maybe around 4 pm. There are fewer people since most tours are done, it’s not hot, and you have the best golden hour moment. The sunset is amazing! I’m glad we rented a motorcycle because we can decide with our time and the places we want to go to.
