Davao Oriental is just one of the five provinces that comprise Davao Region. Other provinces are Davao del Norte, Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, and Compostela Valley. Davao region was formerly called Southern Mindanao because it is situated in the southeastern portion of Mindanao.
I’ve been to Davao Oriental once with friends and we visited Mati and Lupon. And we also enjoy some chill time at Blue Bless Beach Resort. So, when my friend invited me to explore Davao Oriental, it’s really hard to say no. I’ve been there once and I’ve always looked forward to visiting it again.
How I explore Davao Oriental for only Php 1,100?

Our 5 Davao Oriental Destinations
1. Balite Hot Spring
When I first heard about the Balite Hot Spring, I just imagined a hot spring located in the heart of someplace where there is a big and historic Balite tree nearby. (So I was kinda hesitant to go but maybe it wouldn’t be well-known if it is not safe, right?) This hot spring is one of the must-go spots in Baganga, Davao Oriental, so to say. So on a midnight, I traveled with some friends to Davao Oriental with the idea of dipping ourselves in some hot hydro-massage treatment.
2. Campawan’s Curtain Falls
The Curtain Falls derives its name from the formation of the waterfalls itself. The cool falling waters come from the river above and the large flat rock causes it to flow in a curtain-like pattern. Campawan Curtain Falls is said to be the widest curtain falls in the whole Davao Region. The waters fall from a distance of around 20 feet in height and its width is maybe around 50 to 60 feet.
3. Baganga’s Sunrise Boulevard
Sunrise Boulevard, as the name suggests, is best viewed when the dawn breaks. We went there at high noon but nonetheless the place is really wonderful. I guess if we get the chance to view the sunrise from there, it would be an amazing experience.
4. San Victor Island
San Victor island facing the Pacific Ocean is owned by the Diocese of Mati and managed by the Catholic Parish of Baganga. This jewel was recognized as one of the top must-visit tourist spots of Davao Oriental and the Davao region as well. The powdery white sand, clear turquoise waters, and its marine life are just a few of the many reasons why people love to visit the place. And because I love beaches and exploring islands, its definitely was on my bucket list.
5. Aliwagwag Falls Eco Park
Aliwagwag Falls, known as one of Davao Oriental’s most visited natural attractions, is a series of more or less a hundred cascading falls. Just like a stairway with various heights in between steps, ranging from 7ft to 110 ft tall and the highest cascades are about 66 ft to 72 ft tall. This majestic multi-tiered waterfall has a total combined height of 1,100 ft. Proudly, its the Philippines highest waterfalls in the country.
There are so many more places you can visit in Davao Oriental. This province is so beautiful and very rich in natural attractions. I can’t wait to visit again.
